UK Work

One of Rural England’s work areas is to operate a liaison arrangement across the United Kingdom.

This is done through a separate organisation, which again has involved RSN, the UK Rural Policy Practitioners and Research Group.

This group has convenors in English, Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish Universities allowing the exchange of information about rural initiatives and research from across the UK.

The Convenors are:
Janet Dwyer ( University of Gloucestershire) – England
Paul Milbourne (University of Cardiff) – Wales
Jane Atterton ( Scottish Rural University College / University of Edinburgh) – Scotland
Ruth McAreavey ( Queens University Belfast) – Northern Ireland

The Group works is detailed on the SRUC website.

In December at a special meeting each year the UKRPPG meet with the Rural England Stakeholder Group for an annual rural overview discussion about what is working well and what is proving difficult across the four Home Countries.

This is the sole rural group across the UK who seek to share learning discussion and rural research outcomes.
